Units is very lightly used and in close to mint cosmetic condition. VFD display is clear and strong. Rear connector blocks and original printed manual are included. Tested to confirm correct opertation - the only quirk is that the output sometimes mutes after you change the selected frequency until you press the TUNER BAND button twice. The item does not do this on power up, only when the frequency is changed (which would presumably be infrequently). It should not impact a static implementation such as an off air confidence monitor etc. The SPDIF digital output is only active when the tuner is locked to a HD Radio station operating in digital mode. HD Radio requires a strong signal. The use of a quality, roof mounted antenna is highly recommended. This tuner is appropriate to the US iBiquity implementation of HD Radio. It will not work with the Eureka DAB (or DAB+) system that is used in many other countries.
The M4.0X has been designed as the benchmark in sensitivity (<5.0dBf in FM) and reliability, and at the same time delivers the highest quality, accurate monitoring of existing analog and HD Radio AM and FM broadcast signals (THD+N <.005% with stereo separation >90dB for HD Radio).
It has ultra low noise RF front-end with built-in preselector and double-balanced mixer, low-jitter DAC and Class-A biased audio outputs provide the highest fidelity reception and demodulation of HD Radio programs, including display of program specific data (PSD) for MPS and SPS multicast signals.
AM and FM antenna level inputs
XLR outputs for balanced analog and transformer-isolated S/PDIF digital audio
AM, FM and HD-2 through HD-8 multicast signals
Multifunction display with Program Specific Data
HD Audio Locked, Multicast and Delay Bit indicators
