Description

Here's a lightly used, very clean TrueTime/Symmetricom XL-DC GPS time receiver/precision oscillator. This unit has a TCXO internal oscillator. This unit has three sine wave frequency outputs 10MHz (upper right BNC), 5MHz (adjacent to the 10MHz) and 1MHz (top middle BNC). The right LCD display has a backlight; the left LCD does not have a backlight. A copy of the RS-232 console port output obtained during my testing is provided below.

I have not tested the three additional IRIG timecode outputs as they are IRIG-E format and not readable by my IRIG-B display. The GPIO interface is untested. Both these cards are offered as-is with no guarantee that they work, although I have no reason to believe that the IRIG-E ports won't work with a matched reader.

A basic test antenna is included to get you started but should be replaced by a professional grade unit for best results. The antenna requires a clear view of the sky from an outdoor mounting point for the receiver to function correctly. The Antenna voltage is 5V so almost any good quality GPS antenna should work, but try and have at least 26dB of antenna gain if you want to replicate my test results. A Symmetricom AT575 type is recommended and I usually have some listed separately.

The internal lithium battery used to maintain the time and settings under power loss conditions has recently been replaced so should not need further attention for some time. The date should be correct when you start your testing, but if not you may need to use the Set Year function (F-68) to dial in the correct year first. I can provide details if required. Rack ears are included as shown. No unpictured cables, accessories or documents are included. A few paint blemishes have been retouched with matching paint so the unit will look smart in your rack when viewed at a normal distance.
