The main differences are:\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/font\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/font\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003col\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cem\u003e\u003cfont size=\"+1\"\u003eN\u003c\/font\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cfont size=\"+1\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cfont size=\"+1\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cfont size=\"+1\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eormally the XL-DC\ndefaults to UTC time and can be set to GPS time as\nan option. This unit seems to have been ordered with\nthe time locked to GPS time and I could not find a\nway of changing that (Function 01 is garbled on the\ndisplay and Function 69 is missing). GPS time is 18\nseconds ahead of UTC.  The fact that the unit\ndisplays GPS time does not affect the accuracy of\nthe disciplined 1PPS,10, 5 and 1 MHz outputs.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/font\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/font\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/font\u003e\n\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cfont size=\"+1\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eI was unable to send and receive data\nusing the DB9 RS-232 serial port using my test PC's\nHyperterminal application. That \u003cu\u003emay\u003c\/u\u003e indicate that\nthe device has been optioned with the RS-422 serial protocol\nor that hardware flow control is needed, so my PC's 3-wire\nserial card can't communicate, but I have not explored this\nfurther. It may indicate that this capability was not\nprovisioned at the request of the original purchaser. \nIn any case, all the important parameters for the device are\naccessible via the front panel keypad, so the serial I\/O is\nprobably unnecessary for most applications.  Please\nproceed on the basis that the serial I\/O port is\ninoperative.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/font\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cfont size=\"+1\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe unit has a couple of expansion cards\ninstalled (\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003e86-729-15 and 86-383-5) which I presume\nare for a military application. The Antenna voltage is\n5V so almost any good quality GPS antenna should work, but try\nand have at least 26dB of antenna gain if you want to\nreplicate my test results. A Symmetricom AT575 type is\nrecommended and I usually have some listed separately. Rack\nears are included as shown. Alternatively if\nyou have a spare XL-DC CPU module and want to try a swap then\nit would seem that the OCXO module, chassis, power supply and\ndisplay boards are all good.  Note that there's a little\ncorrosion at the right end of the rear panel.
