This is an eight channel microphone (or line level) mixer which offers a PC based Graphical User Interface to adjust levels and bus assigments etc. These are commonly used in courtrooms to record transcription audio to a computer hard drive from the various microphones. However it could be used for other similar multichannel recording situations, or the analog outputs could be used to send a mixed signal to a PA system or alternative recording device. The item has been tested for good audio and that it can be configured and controlled via the USB interface. The driver package can be downloaded here.

Description
The FTR DMX8 USB Mixer is a software-controlled hardware solution that combines the functions of an 8-input to 4-channel mixer with a 4-channel audio encoder card in a single compact device. This means that all analog signal processing takes place within the mixer and the four digital recording channels are delivered via PCM stream to the recording computer through the USB 2.0 interface. The DMX8 USB Mixer presents itself as a standard Antex LX 44 sound card to all FTR applications.
The eight inputs are software configurable to accept either dynamic, condenser or line-level inputs. All input channels are mixable to four discrete channels for recording, and four mono (mix-minus) output channels are available for delivery to teleconferencing and videoconferencing applications. A master composite output of all input channels is available for delivery of audio through a public address system.
The simplicity of the DMX8 USB Mixer makes it an ideal choice for courts that need excellent audio performance and reliability in a wide variety of digital recording environments. It’s easy to install and configure because it connects via the USB 2.0 interface and the host software provides complete control of internal configurations. The 4-channel recording capability ensures you’ll capture and understand the entire record.
And because it’s portable, you know
you can produce a clear, reliable record whether
you’re recording a trial in a court room in the
same building, or in one that’s located in a rural
or outlying area.
