This is a hard-to-find component. It was discontinued by Noritake some years ago, and when it was available it sold for over $700 from the manufacturer. I'm sure that it would have been much more expensive from Symmetricom as a pre-programmed spare part.

The board is simply held in place by four 3/16 nuts which can usually be removed without the need to disturb any other parts inside the case. I use a slim nut driver to remove the securing nuts. Take care not to lose the lock washers under the nuts and the spacer between the VFD board and the front of the case.
This board may suit other applications, but it might require re-configuration (eg communications protocol, baud rate etc) to match the other equipment. It is currently programmed with the custom Symmetricom Syncserver animated start-up sequence that provides the user someting to look at while the Linux OS boots up in the background - and which later provides the time display once the pre-recorded graphic sequence ends. It may also be possible to desolder the 256x32 pixel VFD and transplant it to a different Noritake board that also uses that part.
Note that any disassembly, reconfiguration or re-programming of the unit will invalidate any warranty offered by the seller.
